News Facts
Oracle Utilities Professional Services introduced Oracle Express Implementation Services to provide a faster and more cost-effective option for mid-size utilities to implement mission-critical software.
Oracle Express Implementation Services implements pre-configured applications based on standard, proven business processes to enable utilities to lower implementation time and cost. Using templated business processes that represent the best practice for major application areas, and tailored data conversion, integration and reporting tools, utilities can take advantage of Oracle applications’ capabilities without drawn out and resource intensive implementation schedules.
Several customers have selected Oracle Express Implementation Services, including:
Advanced Metering Services (AMS) is the primary meter services division of New Zealand's Vector Corporation. Vector's metering businesses are responsible for the ownership and management of electricity and gas meters to more than 800,000 homes and businesses across New Zealand, as well as the provision of energy data management services to commercial and industrial electricity users. Since 2008, Vector has installed more than 600,000 smart meters throughout the country. Since the company’s original systems did not support the growth and flexibility needed to ensure the benefits of the smart meters, AMS selected Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Express Implementation for Electric Utilities. The resulting system will enable AMS to speed up its time to market for innovations in the way it supplies meter data to its customers, empowering its customers to better understand their energy usage patterns and take advantage of lower tariffs.
Louisville Water Company – a city-owned corporation that provides water to approximately 850,000 people in Louisville Metro and parts of Bullitt, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby and Spencer Counties – selected Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing, Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management and Oracle Utilities Customer Self Service to standardize its business processes and ultimately improve customer service. Using the Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing Express Implementation for Water Utilities, Louisville Water Company hopes to reduce operational costs, improve decision making, enhance customer service delivery and increase revenue and cash flow through standardization on Oracle technology and standard business processes.

“Many of our requirements are so close to the preconfigured system that we can adopt the Oracle Express Implementation Services out of the box and reduce the time and effort needed to reap the business benefits of Oracle Applications. This allows us to build on our existing service offerings and respond to the growing demands of modern utilities and their customers, whether they are electric, gas or water,” said Paul Atkins, product development manager, Advanced Metering Services.
“We implemented a customer information system in the late summer of 2000 and were ready to upgrade to new technology that would help optimize our staff resources and business processes. Oracle Express Implementation Services for Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing and Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management will allow us to standardize our processes, so we can focus on continuing to deliver exceptional customer service,” said Dave Vogel, vice president, Customer Service, Louisville Water Company.
“Oracle is committed to providing utilities of all sizes with the best in mission-critical software and services to optimize their businesses. By choosing Oracle Express Implementation Services from Oracle Utilities Professional Services, utilities can be up and running in significantly less time than a traditional custom implementation, and can significantly reduce their implementation costs and the time their key business resources need to spend on the project,” said Rodger Smith, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Utilities.
